patiently waiting

patiently waiting, originally uploaded by theredthread.

Prior to the last 2 weeks, we've had a busy summer in our house hold (painting and prepping the house for guests who stayed for a week.) Despite that, I always managed to find time to walk these two. With those faces, how could I not?

happy boy

happy boy, originally uploaded by theredthread.

Little Eli has made some serious progress this month from a little puppy into a big boy. I've started leaving him out of the crate unsupervised when going out and so far it's going swimmingly. No destructive chewing or shenanigans have occurred. The only thing out of the ordinary was one of the end tables had been rearranged at about a 45 degree angle, I'm guessing because there was something underneath it appealing to a little white dog.

I can only hope this behavior continues. He is maturing at a far faster rate than I thought possible. Go Eli!

Inaugural Woof - Eli

(so small), originally uploaded by theredthread.

After spending a lovely and insane 2 and half years with Angie, and Angie alone, we lost our minds and decided to get her a friend. When I saw Eli's photo up on our local no kill shelter's website, my heart melted into a puddle of goo. As you can see, he was very small and and of indeterminate breed. He somewhat resembled a racoon with the missing fur around his eyes (caused by a case of demodex mange, later resolved). At the outset, he seemed like the perfect foil for Angie's loud boisterous personality.. quiet, sleepy and submissive. This would later prove to be a total miscalculation. In the ensuing years he's proven to be more energetic and wild and independent minded than she ever has been. He's also super smart and equally adorable, so I haven't yet regretted bringing him home. He is the perfect yin to Angie's yang, and we love him just as much.

Inaugural Woof - Angie

This has been a long over due goal of mine, to start a blog for my two favourite canines. What better way to start than at the very beginning?

We'll start with Angie. Angie, as you can quite plainly see, was the most adorable shepherd mix puppy to ever grace New York state. We brought her home on December 1, 2005 at the tender (and psychotic) age of 4 months from a local no kill shelter. At the time, she weighed a mere 25 lbs. Since then she's been my velcro dog, always sticking by my side and doing what she's told (when she feels like it.) She now weighs in at 70 lbs and is perhaps the most adorable and loving adult shepherd mix dog to ever grace New York state.
